In partnership with a niche civil and environmental consultancy, we are looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Flood Risk Engineer to join their Lead Local Flood Authority support team. This is a permanent role to be based in Richmond, London.

Your new role

The new Senior Flood Risk Engineer will play a crucial role in the Local Flood Authority Support Team. Working in a small consultancy you have the unparalleled opportunity to be involved in projects from inception through to completion, with the chance to contribute to their emerging ecology, biodiversity and climate change adaptation offerings.

The successful consultant must be interested in developing a career in Flood Risk Management, with the skillset to thrive in a small and dynamic team, and fulfil the below:

  • A thorough understanding of flood risk management policy and strategy
  • An analytical mindset and ability to problem solve and think logically
  • Ability to independently spot and act on opportunities for projects
  • Knowledge of key funding routes available for flood risk work
  • Sound technical ability in flood management and drainage principles
  • An understanding of business case concepts and how these fit within the public sector
  • Flair for innovation and thinking differently
  • Experience of positive engagement with multiple risk management authorities

 

About you

Alongside your interest in flood risk management and environmental engineering and demonstrable appetite for learning and developing your career further, you will have

  • Chartered or close to chartership with ICE, CIWEM or relevant institution
  • Experience in developing fee proposals / tender responses
  • Experience in producing outline business cases for the Environment Agency
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in developing fee proposals / tender responses
