This integrated service provider is responsible for the maintenance and services of a significant number of UK highways and footpaths. Their community focus is an essential aspect of their work, which drives their success in delivering maintenance, severe weather operations, surfacing, specialist treatments, and incident response on the UK’s highways that they cover, all whilst maintaining sustainable practices.

The role

This role will see you working across the Operations team primarily as a highways planner, with some permit officer and document control duties as well, planning and supporting the delivery of works, the distribution, storage and retrieval of documents and permitting planned works.

In short you will

  • Ensure appropriate permits are in place for all works and adherence to regulations
  • Allocate costs to jobs accurately and manage the performance of operatives
  • Take responsibility for the collection, analysis, monitoring and reporting of financial, programme and performance information
  • Develop and implement robust communication processes
  • Undertake stakeholder liaison for works where required
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Highway Maintenance and its impact on stakeholders
  • Coordinate the distribution of documents within the team and to outside parties
  • Act as a focal point to ensure the team has all current documents and information required

About you

The role on offer is busy yet rewarding for the successful candidate. To be considered for the Planner position, you should have most of the below:

  • Relevant experience in a planning role
  • Excellent capability to use a variety of software packages, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly to adapt to project requirements
  • Effective prioritisation and time management skills
  • Experience and proficiency in cost management and system utilisation
  • Understanding of construction methodologies and regulations
  • Knowledge and resources to support the delivery of the service to clients
